Camera Calibration for Measurements

This document provides guidance on camera calibration to ensure accurate measurements when using the Aistetic API.

Why Calibration Matters

Camera calibration is essential for accurate garment measurements. Different cameras, lenses, and shooting distances can affect the accuracy of measurements extracted from images.

Calibration Process

  1. Use a Calibration Card

    • Place the Aistetic calibration card in the frame
    • The card should be visible in the same plane as the garment
    • Ensure the card is not warped or bent
  2. Lighting Conditions

    • Maintain consistent, diffused lighting
    • Avoid harsh shadows or reflections
    • Natural daylight provides best results
  3. Camera Position

    • Keep the camera perpendicular to the garment
    • Maintain a consistent distance for all photos
    • Use a tripod for best results

Calibration Card

The Aistetic calibration card contains markers that our AI uses to calculate the true scale of the image. The calibration card can be obtained by contacting our support team.

Best Practices

  • Recalibrate when changing cameras or lenses
  • Include the calibration card in every shot if possible
  • For consistent results, use the same shooting setup for all garments
  • Document your setup for repeatability
